Below is some information to introduce the new members of the team.
EMILY CAPSTICK has been working in museum theatre for the last 14 years as writer, researcher, director, actor, facilitator and maker. Based in the Northwest, she is joint Company Director of Peoplescape Theatre. She has developed performances through partnership with fifteen different organisations including the People's History Museum, The Manchester Museum, Museum of London, London Transport Museum and Staircase House.
Emily was funded by the Arts Council to attend the biennial IMTAL international conference in California where she delivered a paper to delegates and jointly represented IMTAL-Europe at the international board meeting. She also facilitated the training "Less of the Verbal" with Alison Hale for IMTAL Europe earlier this year and has contributed to the newsletter Insights.
If elected to the Board, Emily has offered to take on the role of Editor of Insights which would build on her experience of writing reviews and articles with past employers such as Age Concern and Waterstones bookshop.
CHRIS GIDLOW is the Live Interpretation Manager for Historic Royal Palaces. Over the last eleven years he has been responsible for implementing an innovative programme of live interpretation events bringing to life the history of the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kew Palace, Kensington Palace and Banqueting House White Hall. He now manages the largest live interpretation contract in Europe. He learnt on the job, working as a knight in the reconstructed Medieval Palace of King Edward I (1272-1307) and can still be seen occasionally in costume as the King. Chris is also an author, specialising in the history and legends of King Arthur, and designs historical board games when he has any spare time. As a representative of an institutional member Chris would bring a different perspective and a wealth of expertise to the board.
LYNNE HOLMES (not standing for the Board) Training Day Co-ordinator.
I am currently managing Peterborough Colleges PCDL Programme which provides educational opportunities across the city and the college is willing to fully support me in my offer to help out IMTAL.
In my current role I coordinate a wide range of educational activities for adults and families; this includes both the strategic side: sourcing topics, speakers and venues, and the more practical issues, handling enrolments, refreshments, travel arrangements, risk assessments etc. Alongside this my past teaching experience has enables me to ensure the quality of the provision we offer through an observations programme.
In the past I’ve managed both EU and lottery funded projects, In fact I’ve coordinated a wide variety of projects with a range of challenging budgets and outcomes including projects using performance at a museum or heritage site.
